Our Journey of Growth

Smith Farm Stores has been proudly serving our communities since September 1971, when Earl and Jim Smith opened our first location in Rensselaer. In June 1981, we expanded with a second store in Knox, located in the former Five Star Grocery, opened by Don and Earl Smith. Our growth continued in 2001 with the acquisition of an Ace Hardware store in Plymouth, now operating as both Smith’s Ace Hardware and Smith Farm Store. Just one year later, we welcomed our fourth location in Rochester.
